Former congressman Adam Kinzinger shamed Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as he prepares to leave the U.S. House at the end of this year.

The California Republican announced his retirement after he became the first House speaker to be voted out of the position, and he told "Face the Nation" that he was proud of his record and defended the budget deal that led to his ouster.

"When I made the decision to pay our troops and not shut the government down, I knew a motion to vacate was coming," McCarthy said. "I would do it all again."

McCarthy posted a video clip of his interview on social media, and Kinzinger ripped him as unprincipled.

"Oh shut up @SpeakerMcCarthy," Kinzinger responded. "You have no honor, you completely lost it on January 6. Don’t pretend you have principles now. You are a vacant and empty man, and history will record your name in sadness."
