In another embarrassment for the Charlie Kirk murder investigation, a man in scrubs and a lab coat was able to walk past police tape and start taking pictures inside the crime scene before he was spotted, chased and arrested, reports the Salt Lake Tribune.
As investigators worked the scene on the Utah Valley University campus on Thursday where far-right conservative Kirk was killed after being shot in the neck, a man identified by the New York Post as 38-year-old Russell Kim Kennington wandered into the area where evidence was still being collected, possibly compromising efforts to track down the killer.
With police stating the man was not a suspect in the shooting, the report on the arrest revealed, “There was two sets of yellow crime scene tape up that Russell would have to have crossed to make it to the main incident crime scene,” before adding he told the arresting officer he was “following the shadows to avoid police contact and detection to not ‘disturb us.’"
According to the Post report, a selfie taken at the crime scene was found on the intruder’s phone after which he was taken to Utah County Jail, with the report continuing, “He has been charged with suspicion of capital obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony, and criminal trespass, a class B misdemeanor.”
