'This kid is no hero': MSNBC's Morning Joe shreds conservatives for celebrating Kyle Rittenhouse

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough blasted his fellow conservatives for elevating Kenosha gunman Kyle Rittenhouse as a hero, despite him killing two people under questionable and possibly illegal circumstances.

Jury deliberations will begin Monday in the 18-year-old's murder trial, and the "Morning Joe" host declared Rittenhouse was no hero, regardless of whatever verdict that jurors might return.

"I'm just concerned for the people who are trying turn this kid into a hero," Scarborough said. "Ask a police officer you know whether he's a hero, ask people who support gun rights and are law-abiding citizens whether they want people running around city streets, they'll probably tell you they don't."

"It is strange how people define conservatism in the most bizarre way and they go out of their way and pick people who break the law and act terribly as their heroes," he added. "It looks like, again, Kyle Rittenhouse is one of those cases where people on both sides are vilifying or praising this guy when everybody should be lining up shoulder to shoulder saying it's a really bad thing to have kids get AR-15s because they think it's cool going across state line and shooting people."

Rittenhouse should be a cautionary tale, Scarborough said, and not a political avatar.

"This kid is no hero for Second Amendment advocates," he said. "This kid is a warning to parents and others to make sure before somebody picks up a gun, they understand gun safety, they don't go into places where they're going to be in the cops' way and make law enforcement's jobs more difficult."
