Lara Trump suggested that Americans should worship President Donald Trump and his billionaire adviser Elon Musk.
The president's daughter-in-law appeared Monday night with Sean Hannity on Fox News, the network on which she also hosts a program, and dismissed concerns that Musk was "enriching himself and his friends" as "laughable," saying that the public should instead demonstrate supplication for his purges of the government workforce, reported The Daily Beast.
“People ought to be kissing the feet of Elon Musk and Donald Trump for being the two people to actually do this,” Lara Trump said. “But these folks on the left are gonna continue down this path, and you know what? They’re gonna continue to lose the support of the American people. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.”
The former Republican National Committee co-chair also insisted that Musk, whose net worth has tumbled by $148 billion since Inauguration Day after peaking a month after the election, was making a financial sacrifice by serving an undefined but powerful role in Trump's administration.
“This guy is losing money because of what he’s doing, but he understands the importance of this moment,” she said. “We cannot continue in perpetuity spending the way we are. We cannot survive as a country.”
The president seemingly shared her concerns about Musk's business ventures, posting overnight that he intended to buy a Tesla on Tuesday morning as a show of support for the suddenly struggling electric vehicle company whose shares have plummeted 45 percent so far this year – including a 15-percent drop on Monday.
"To Republicans, Conservatives, and all great Americans, Elon Musk is 'putting it on the line' in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!" Trump posted at 12:14 p.m. EST on Truth Social. "But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s 'baby,' in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for. They tried to do it to me at the 2024 Presidential Ballot Box, but how did that work out?"
