A GOP candidate for Congress who is going head-to-head with Lauren Boebert to represent Colorado's 4th district was arrested in 2022 on suspicion of driving drunk while in possession of a gun, ABC Denver reported.
Mike Lynch, who is also the state's House Minority Leader, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of driving while ability impaired and was sentenced to 18 months of probation, according to a newly discovered Colorado State Patrol report. He is still on probation.
Lynch, 54, jumped into the race to replace Rep. Ken Buck (R) in the 4th Congressonal District earlier this month. The race has a crowded field of Republican contenders, including Boebert who jumped from her current seat to the 4th, which is considered safer for conservatives.

Speaking to the Denver Post this Wednesday, Lynch acknowledged he had made a mistake and had learned from his arrest.
“I’m obviously embarrassed by it,” Lynch said. “As a Christian man who professes to be that way, it’s not good to be known as getting a DUI. Honestly, the political impacts are not as much (of a concern) as just my overall reputation.”
