Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) was present for her son's hearing Wednesday, said a reporter who observed the meeting.
The congresswoman's son, Tyler Jay Boebert, was arrested on numerous felony charges connected to a string of thefts. The 18-year-old is facing 22 counts in connection with a "recent string of vehicle trespass and property thefts" in Rifle, the police department said in a statement.
Law & Crime news reporter Brandi Buchman posted on social media that the younger Boebert was still in detention pending the arraignment.

By Wednesday afternoon, as he prepared to appear in court, "he had a hearty laugh with his co-defendants, though I could not hear what was said," said Buchman.
A personal recognizance bond was recommended, she reported, and there would be no supervision.
Mr. Boebert "has limited criminal history and one failure to appear for a traffic case last year. Bond is set at $1,250. They are usually set at $1,000, but because of [a] class 6 felony charge, it's upped."
His lawyer asked for an April 11 trial date given the investigations are still pending.
Buchman explained that the judge ordered no screenshots of the proceedings on the Zoom call.
The moment came as Rep. Boebert attempted to reassure her Colorado district that she hadn't been plagued with the drama the media made her out to be.
It's been fewer than six months since she had an incident at a Denver theatre production and was told to leave.
While there is no protection order in place for the criminal case, the attorneys have asked for one, given some of Boebert's co-defendants are still minors.
Before the April 11 date was set, Mr. Boebert abandoned the chat.
"Oh, has Mr. Boebert left already?" it was asked.
"Yes, they took him already."
His attorney promised to put the date on the bond paperwork.
"It also seems like Lauren Boebert was on the line watching, according to the judge [and] attorney," said Buchman.
