New York Attorney Letitia James vowed Thursday to squeeze the truth out of former President Donald Trump when he takes the stand in his New York City fraud trial next week.
“While I am sure he will try to hide his wrongdoing behind taunts, threats, and name calling,” James said, “we will not be bullied out of uncovering the truth.”
James’ pledge arrived on the heels of historic day for New York City civil court, where the 45th president faces a $250 million lawsuit accusing him of defrauding lenders and investors.

Trump’s sons Eric and Donald Jr. both took the stand in attempts to distance themselves from financial documents inflating the value of the Trump Organization and the size of the family triplex in Trump Tower.
In the video statement posted to X, James quietly scoffed at those efforts.
“They pretend that they were not involved in their family's fraudulent business,” James says. “But the facts tell a very different story.”
The increasingly contentious trial ended on an explosive note Thursday when Judge Arthur Engoron threatened Trump’s attorneys with a gag order and accused them of misogyny.
"There’s someone else that’s sending you information on a very, very frequent basis,” Chris Kise reportedly retorted. “I don’t understand what that is.”
“You’re right,” Engoron replied. “You don’t.”
