MSNBC host Rachel Maddow said Tuesday that Lev Parnas felt so guilty about his role in trying to bring down Joe Biden and his family that he spilled to her — and got a longer jail sentence as a result.

Donald Trump ally Rudy Giuliani brought together two men in a scheme to dig up dirt in Ukraine on Biden before the 2020 election, according to Parnas.

Lev Parnas and his associate Igor Fruman tried to find information, but were unable to. They became a key part of what became Trump's first impeachment investigation.

The two men were eventually arrested for a campaign finance scheme to funnel foreign money into Trump's 2020 campaign, which resulted in their subsequent convictions.

A new documentary by Maddow paints Parnas as a sympathetic person, prompting questions by "The View's" co-host Joy Behar when Maddow appeared on Tuesday's show.

Behar questioned if Parnas came clean to Maddow because he was "about to go to prison."

However, according to the MSNBC host, Parnas' sitdown with her after the arrest hurt his case.

"It was not in his legal interest, and it's part of the reason he went to jail for as long as he did, but he wanted to come clean," said Maddow.

Among the things in the documentary was a request by Parnas to meet with Hunter Biden. While the team never thought it would happen, the two sat down and Parnas delivered a tearful apology for his role in trying to gather dirt on the Biden family.

“From Russia with Lev" will air on MSNBC Friday.
