Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) on Wednesday hit back at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) after he accused her of suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome."

As reported by CNN's Melanie Zanona, Cheney was asked about Cruz's statements made during a Fox News interview in which Cruz alleged that former President Donald Trump "broke" her mentally.

Cheney wasted no time hitting back.

"Trump broke Ted Cruz," Cheney told Zanona. "A real man would be defending his wife, and his father, and the Constitution."

Trump in 2016 infamously went after Cruz's family by posting a meme that accused Cruz's wife of being ugly and then claiming that Cruz's father may have been involved in the assassination of President John Kennedy.

Despite this, Cruz would go on to endorse Trump for president and would become one of his staunchest defenders in the Senate, despite the fact that Trump never apologized for attacking his wife and father.

This is the second time recently that Cheney has come out swinging against Cruz, as last week she accused him of "posturing for the secessionist vote."

Cheney has come under fire from her own party for participating in the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riots.
