Accused assassin Luigi Mangione spoke out for the first time since his dramatic December arrest, telling followers in a Valentine’s Day message that he was “grateful” for their support as he launched a new website.
"I am overwhelmed by - and grateful for - everyone who has written me to share their stories and express their support,” Mangione wrote. “Powerfully, this support has transcended political, racial, and even class divisions, as mail has flooded [Metropolitan Detention Center] from across the country, and around the globe. While it is impossible for me to reply to most letters, please know that I read every one that I receive.”
The update from Mangione – the 26-year-old Ivy League graduate facing a first-degree murder charge for the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson – is the first time he has publicly broken his silence. His legal team confirmed to Rolling Stone that the website was authentic.
“Due to the extraordinary volume of inquiries and outpouring of support, this site was created and is maintained by Luigi Mangione’s New York legal defense team to provide answers to frequently asked questions, accurate information about his cases, and dispel misinformation,” his attorneys wrote in a message on the website. “The intent is to share factual information regarding the unprecedented, multiple prosecutions against him.”

In addition to statements from Mangione and his attorneys, the site also includes sections for case updates, a “litigation calendar,” links to donate to his defense fund, and “frequently asked questions,” including “Can I send Luigi photos” and “Where is Luigi in custody?"
Donations toward Mangione’s legal fund have reached close to $400,000. He is next due in a Manhattan courtroom for a hearing on Feb. 21.
“Thank you again to everyone who took the time to write,” Mangione concluded in his message. “I look forward to hearing more in the future."
