The chief of staff of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is launching a boutique consulting shop — and is partnering with former Trump Attorney General Bill Barr, Axios reported.
Machalagh Carr's first big project for Quell Strategies will be to head up the Center for Legal Action at the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce. She'll be president while Barr is chairman.
Speaking to Axios, Carr said the word "quell" was used in the firm's name because it means "to calm a crisis, or put an end to disorder."

The center aims to launch legal challenges to Biden administration policies affecting business and will focus on "reining in the regulatory state, ensuring regulators operate fairly, and promoting free enterprise," she said.
Barr had high praise for Carr, telling Axios that her "legal acumen and ability to navigate the Hill will be a great asset to our members."
