As U.S. and Israeli officials pondered what went wrong that the recent Hamas attack was allowed to happen, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was left thinking, "Where were the space lasers?" Bill Maher joked Friday night.
On Real Time with Bill Maher, the host spent much of his introduction talking about people who appeared to side with Hamas in its attack of Israel.
"Of course, now everyone in Israel is asking, 'How did this devastating breach of security even happen? Why did Israeli intelligence not get an idea that this was coming? Why did American intelligence not know this?"' Maher pondered.

Then he added:
"Marjorie Taylor Greene said, 'Where were the space lasers?'" he said on Friday.
Maher went on to take aim at Rep. Lauren Boebert, who was recorded on a security camera inappropriately touching her companion during a Beetlejuice musical.
Maher brought Boebert up in connection with the House GOP's inability to elect a speaker.
"I'm sure America would like to help in the Middle East, but we can't because there's no one running Congress because we don't have a speaker of the House now for almost two weeks," Maher said, adding a dig at Boebert's recent antics.
"The Republicans got rid of the House speaker a couple of weeks ago, and have been trying to find a new guy since. At first they thought they were gonna settle on Jim Jordan, that didn't work out," he said. "Then they had a closed-door meeting where they all fought... to sit next to Lauren Boebert's hand."
Maher then added that Steve Scalise thought he would be speaker until he realized he didn't have the votes.
"On the bright side, we did find a Republican who acknowledged the vote counts, Maher quipped on the show Friday night.
