The latest jobs report showed that the American economy added 275,000 jobs in the month of February, but Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo isn't buying it.
Bartiromo, who infamously pushed conspiracy theories about the 2020 election that she got from a woman who believes she can speak with the wind, instantly cast suspicion on the numbers.
"If you've got government holding the strings and pulling the strings, of course you're going to get a better showing than reality!" she said, without offering any proof that the government had deliberately rigged the jobs numbers. "I'm wondering if this is going to be the case all year until election day! I mean, government's creating all these jobs, making the numbers look so great, government could also impact the price of oil, get gasoline down right before the election!"
Fox Business analyst Charles Payne, rather than dispelling Bartiromo's claims about rigged jobs reports, argued that she was on to something.

"It's like when you go see 'Jurassic Park,' you got to suspend disbelief," he argued. "If you're an investor, every election year the stock market goes up! They flood the zone!"
In fact, this is not true.
The stock market crashed during an election year during the 2008 financial crisis and again in 2020 with the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Payne then expressed dismay that Biden during his State of the Union address touted his economic record and compared it favorably to former President Donald Trump's.
"We were not in economic free fall [in January 2021]," he fumed, even though the unemployment rate was nearly double what it is today and the economy was still shut down thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was killing an average of over 3,000 Americans per day at its peak.
