Reports that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) was voted out of the ultraconservative Freedom Caucus sent Twitter abuzz Thursday.
Politico reported that the far-right congresswoman was voted out of the caucus last month, citing Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.), a Freedom Caucus member, who told the outlet a combination of factors led to Greene’s ouster, noting her backing for the debt limit deal, her ongoing support for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and an exchange with fellow Freedom Caucus member Lauren Boebert in which Greene reportedly called the Colorado congresswoman “a little b--ch.”
Harris didn’t indicate whether he voted to expel Greene but called her expulsion an “appropriate action.”
Twitter agreed.
“Getting kicked out of the Freedom Caucus for lack of decorum is like getting kicked out of the crackhouse for having too much crack," Attorney Don Lewis tweeted.
“Well done, Marjorie Taylor Greene. Well done.”
Twitter user @middleageriot posted a photo likening Greene’s expulsion to the Wicked Witch of the East’s untimely collision.
“Looks like we're reaching revolution-eating-its-own stage,” The New Yorker’s Susan Glasser tweeted.
Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) wrote: “Marjorie Taylor Greene has been removed from the House Freedom Caucus. What does it say about the GOP that MTG is no longer right-wing enough for the right wing of the Republican Party?”
Daily Beast columnist Wahajat Ali tweeted: “Imagine being not extreme enough for the Freedom Caucus. This is where the GOP is now. Sorry @mtgreenee...you're a RINO now.”
“Jewish space lasers were evidently okay, but calling Lauren Boebert names was "the straw that broke the camel's back" and prompted the Freedom Caucus to oust Marjorie Taylor Greene, congressman tells @jordainc,” New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker tweeted
Comedian Gabe Sanchez wrote: “Marjorie Taylor Greene has officially been expelled from the Freedom Caucus. If your own fascists hate you, then you know you’re the problem.”
“BREAKING: Marjorie Taylor Greene has just been REMOVED from the Freedom Caucus after an internal vote because she wasn’t “extreme enough” for them. You can’t make this up. The Republican Party is in so much disarray right now & it’s an absolute embarrassment, “Democratic party activist Victor Shi tweeted.
