In the wake of Rep. Kevin McCarthy announcing that he's leaving Congress, Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is writhing, a columnist wrote Thursday.

Taking to X just after her ally announced he was quitting, Greene called out her Republican colleagues, slamming those who "expel our own for the other."

"Congratulations Freedom Caucus for one and 105 Rep who expel our own for the other. I can assure you Republican voters didn’t give us the majority to crash the ship. Hopefully no one dies," she wrote.

According to MSNBC's Ja'han Jones, Greene's post is a clear sign of how her relationship with McCarthy has evolved to the stage where he was her key ally — and now he's gone.

Her post to X shows how, "She will end up the biggest loser after McCarthy leaves Congress later this month since his departure will arguably leave her with less power," he wrote.

"Sidling up next to the former speaker allowed Greene to play his right-wing Svengali, in a sense. Before his ouster, Greene had boasted about her ability to convince McCarthy to use his speakership to pursue far-right goals, including the selective release of Jan. 6 footage to right-wing news outlets.

He went on, "McCarthy has showered praise on Greene this year, calling the conspiratorial lawmaker one of the 'best' legislators in the House," Jones writes.
