Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) sparked yet more turmoil in the House of Representatives on Friday when she filed a motion to vacate the chair of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

However, CNN's Manu Raju reports that there's a good reason to believe that Johnson will not suffer the same fate as his predecessor, former Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) — largely because House Democrats are signaling that they'll bail him out.

Raju on Friday interviewed Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY), who pledged to help Johnson keep his job should Greene's motion to vacate make it to the House floor for a vote.

"It's absurd that he's being kicked out for doing the right thing, keeping the government open," Suozzi told Raju. "It has two-thirds of the support from Congress, and the idea that he would be kicked out by these jokers is absurd."

Raju asked Suozzi if other Democrats would join him in keeping Johnson as speaker. He replied, "I hope so."

Writing on Twitter, Raju added that, "Several Dems signaling they’ll save Mike Johnson... especially if he moves on Ukraine aid."

Greene has long made giving Ukraine further military aid a red line, as she has opposed American efforts to help the country resist the invasion being launched by Russia.

If Greene not only failed to oust Johnson as speaker but also saw her intransigence become the impetus for sending more weapons to Ukraine, it would be a double humiliation for the Georgia congresswoman.

However, Greene has signaled that she wouldn't let Johnson off the hook even if Democrats rode to his rescue from her motion to vacate.

""I don't think the American people want, Republican voters across the country, want to see a Republican speaker that's held in place by Democrats," she told reporters on Friday.
