CNN political commentator Van Jones blasted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Tuesday after she admitted she hadn’t read a key provision in President Donald Trump’s sweeping “one, big, beautiful bill” before voting for it.

Greene took to social media to express outrage over a clause that bars states from regulating artificial intelligence for 10 years, saying, “Full transparency, I did not know about this… I would have voted NO if I had known this was in there."

Jones didn’t hold back.

“If Marjorie Taylor Greene wants to get a pass or a cookie for pointing out on Twitter that she voted for something that’s terrible, maybe she gets half a cookie?” Jones said Tuesday. “I don’t get it.”

The CNN senior political commentator added that the bill provision was “nuts."

“It's crazy. It’s dangerous. It's Looney Tunes,” he said, adding that “no elected official except for 535 in the Capitol of America will have any say at all whatsoever about the biggest transformational technology in the history of the world.”

Trump ally David Urban defended the bill as a way of preventing chaos among states with varying pieces of legislation related to AI.

“You think the Chinese have a jump on us now?” Urban asked. “Wait till California reconciles with New York and Vermont and New Hampshire. we'll be all speaking Mandarin because the Chinese will run the world, because we'll be so far behind in AI."

“We might as well just fold up the house if we've got to have 50 states regulating AI,” he added. “Impossible.”
