Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is either one of the social justice movement’s most improbable new allies, or the far-right congresswoman just got a little carried away while attacking the president’s son.

Greene on Tuesday suggested that race is a determinative factor in America’s criminal justice system, a position at odds with her ultraconservative colleagues and many of her prior statements.

Greene and fellow Republicans on Tuesday assailed the Justice Department over a plea agreement with Hunter Biden that will likely spare the president’s son prison time. Hunter Biden has agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor tax charges in exchange for a two-year probation sentence, The Associated Press reports.

Greene retweeted a Daily Caller article suggesting that Hunter Biden received a light sentence, noting rapper Kodak Black received a three-year prison sentence on charges the right-wing outlet reports are similar.

“Unfortunately Kodak’s daddy was not President,” Greene tweeted.

“And he’s not white.”

The suggestion that race was a factor in a white person receiving a lesser sentence than someone who is Black would be less surprising if it came from progressive firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Greene’s past comments suggest she doesn’t view America’s criminal justice system through the prism of race, at least not the same prism the through which progressives see it.

During a 2021 interview with the Periscope podcast with host David Harris, Greene assailed the Black Lives Matter movement and criticized the Derek Chauvin verdict, The Washington Post reports.

Greene appeared on the show the night of the verdict against Chauvin, who was convicted for the killing of George Floyd that sparked widespread protests in the summer of 2020.

“I personally believe, and this is what I tweeted,” Greene said, “that there was no way that we could see anything but a guilty verdict. … This is mob rule. This is not law. This is not court. This is not justice, so to speak. And I’m not even talking about the verdict. I’m just talking about the fact that BLM has become the most powerful domestic terrorist organization within inside the United States.”

Greene during the interview compared the BLM tactics to those used by the Ku Klux Klan.

“They used to go and take to the streets with torches and their uniforms and go out there like some sort of army,” Greene said.

“They would threaten courts. They would threaten people in their towns if they didn’t behave the way they wanted them to behave. And remember the Ku Klux Klan — the Democrat Party is the party of the Ku Klux Klan.”

Greene also posted video on Twitter of an exchange with a reporter in which she assailed former Attorney General Bill Barr for failing to prosecute Hunter Biden despite evidence implicating the president’ son and family in a $5 million bribery scheme and said she doesn’t buy the suggestion that Hunter Biden was treated fairly because he was investigated by a Trump appointee, David Weiss.

“I don't care if you're Trump appointed. I don't care if they were part of his former administration, those are people that had known about these violent crimes and sold our country out. They should be held accountable too,” Greene said.

“So I don't give a crap about the attorney. I don’t care. I really don't, it doesn't matter if they're Trump appointed. That's not the issue. The issue is we should be holding people accountable for their real crimes, not playing like oh, look at Hunter Biden going along and get along with the DOJ because he was a horrible drug addict back then, when he made his little throwaway gun and a trash can and his tax crimes.”
