First Lady Melania Trump took to Fox News Tuesday to lavish praise on former President Joe Biden and his wife, former First Lady Jill Biden — a startling break from her husband’s relentless attacks on his predecessor which have included calls for him to be jailed.

Melania Trump appeared on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” to promote her new film “Melania,” set to be released in theaters on Friday and directed by Brett Ratner, who had previously taken a break from Hollywood after being accused of rape and sexual misconduct, and was also featured in the Justice Department’s latest release of Jeffrey Epstein files.

“We also see moments apparently of when you talk to the Bidens,” said Fox host Ainsley Earhardt, speaking to Melania Trump about the trailer for her new film, which chronicles the 20 days leading up to Trump’s inauguration. “You have tea together, you drive to the [White House] rotunda, you were on Air Force One, the Biden sendoff, so how were the Bidens to the Trumps on that day?”

“They were very nice!” Mrs. Trump said of the Bidens. “And a very... beautiful relationship that day. So it was a very special day that we were spending together, driving to the Capitol, and they were very... it was a very cordial relationship.”

The praise from the first lady stood in stark contrast to her husband’s rhetoric against Biden over the past several years. Trump has called Biden “vicious,” “crooked,” and argued that he didn’t deserve sympathy after his recent cancer diagnosis. As far back as 2020, Trump called for Biden to be jailed, a call that he renewed as recently as last October.

Trump has aggressively promoted the Melania film on social media, though advanced ticket sales suggest that it has struggled to fill seats for its opening night.
