An agreement by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to work with Democrats on a stopgap spending plan to avoid a government shutdown has members of his caucus furious with multiple members complaining, "We're just kicking the can down the road," and that "it is just more of the same."

According to a report from the Daily Beast, Johnson plans to move key deadline dates out to March 8 and March 22, but there are worries among Republicans those dates will crumble too.

Of major concern by GOP lawmakers is that Johnson appears to have no long-term plan and continues to keep them in the dark, with one lawmaker stating they heard about his latest maneuver on social media.

According to the Beast's report, "The situation has gotten so toxic that conservatives are now complimenting their former leader, the exiled McCarthy," with outspoken Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) calling Johnson's manuvering "capitulation."

Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) added, "This guy, he got the job in an awkward spot,. He’s behind the eight ball already. He just needs to figure out how to get out from behind and move on.”
