Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) clashed with a constituent this week after she refused to hold a moment of silence for the late Pope Francis.

On Tuesday, Mace shared a video from Monday night's town hall event in her district, where a constituent stood up to complain that the lawmaker had not observed the pontiff's death.

"And we will bless the Pope now because the Pope has just passed too," the woman said. "We didn't bring, we should have brought that up and had a moment of silence because the Pope has just passed."

"Show some respect," the woman added.

"Maybe, maybe you can start with respecting young men and women who have been killed in South Carolina by illegal immigrants," Mace snapped. "Why don't we start with respecting the lives lost at the hands of murderous illegal aliens?"

While sharing the video, Mace said that she had preferred to have a moment of silence for those who were allegedly attacked by undocumented immigrants.

"God forbid I start off my speech last night with a moment of silence for Nathanial Baker, the USC student who was killed by an illegal alien earlier this month," she wrote.
