Pro-Trump activist claims that Casey DeSantis is 'exaggerating' her fight against breast cancer

Far-right activist, conspiracy theorist, and die-hard Donald Trump supporter Laura Loomer took aim at the wife of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis this Saturday, suggesting in a tweet that Casey DeSantis faked her struggle with breast cancer.

DeSantis supporters say you aren’t allowed to criticize Jill DeSantis because she claims she had cancer (I’ve never seen the medical records), but they have no problem attacking Melania Trump,” Loomer wrote, calling the Florida First Lady by her birth name. “Personally, I think Jill’s health has been over exaggerated in a desperate effort to get votes for DeSantis. They even used it in a 2022 campaign commercial which is very tacky.”

NYC Mayor Adams' Memorial Day speech sounded a lot like Donald Trump's all-caps rant

NEW YORK — Mayor Eric Adams denounced left-wing ideologies in an ultra-patriotic Monday speech in which he also lamented a perceived lack of national pride among young Americans. Speaking at the USS Intrepid Museum’s annual Memorial Day ceremony, the mayor made the critical comments after referencing a Thomas Jefferson quote about the “tree of liberty,” which is commonly interpreted as being about military struggle. “You water the tree of freedom with your blood,” Adams said. “We sit under the shade of that tree of freedom protected from the hot rays of socialism and communism and destruction ...

Read it: McCarthy uploads 99-page deal over the debt ceiling

According to the details in the 99-page debt ceiling agreement, the Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Joe Biden agreed on the idea of the debt ceiling not being an issue again until after the 2024 election.

Another is to increase defense spending and veteran funding. The Republican-led House passed a bill that would have cut veterans' spending, and Biden refused to increase defense spending if the House was forcing him to kill food stamps. The two parties came off of both.

Eyes turn to Sen. Angela Paxton as Texas Senate takes up her husband’s removal

For Angela Paxton, June 1 will always be “I love you day,” the anniversary of the first time a baby-faced Baylor undergrad named Ken told her he loved her.

This year, “I love you day” will have a dark cloud looming over it, as that young man, now the attorney general of Texas, faces removal from office by the state Senate — of which Angela Paxton is a member.

Republican rejects claim they were holding economy hostage — it's using 'leverage' to 'force' Democrats

Speaking to CNN's Jim Acosta on Sunday, Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) disputed the characterization that his party was holding the debt ceiling hostage, and the economy along with it.

It was an attack lodged by Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) on Saturday, saying that Republicans never had to use the debt ceiling in their negotiations. The GOP could have used the budget negotiations to get the cuts they wanted without bringing the American economy to the brink of another shutdown.

Kevin McCarthy dispels right-wing conspiracy that Biden has dementia

"He's got dementia," claims radio host Joe Rogan about President Joe Biden.

Donald Trump joined in the attacks, crafting a whole new conspiracy theory: "Joe Biden's second bout of Covid, sometimes referred to as the China Virus, was sadly misdiagnosed by his doctors. He instead has Dementia, but is happily recovering well," Trump wrote. "Joe is thinking of moving, part time, to one of those beautiful Wisconsin Nursing Homes, where almost 100% of the residents miraculously, and for the first time in history, had the strength and energy to vote — even if those votes were cast illegally."

Former federal prosecutor cites the real reason Trump can't stop attacking special counsel Jack Smith

Former federal prosecutor Robert Katzberg, who does commentary for Slate told the site that former President Donald Trump has a serious problem controlling himself.

No person likes being attacked, but it's dangerous when it comes to a judge or a federal prosecutor going on a public attack campaign that endangers the lives of those working for the court. There's no rule against it, given there isn't an indictment, much less a case. Still, Trump has gone on a spree over the past several months, alluding to special counsel Jack Smith being a partisan hack. He's attacked Smith's wife.

Analyst accuses Fox News of keeping Oversight Republicans' sketchy 'FBI whistleblower' claim alive

After struggling to find any scandal they could link to President Joe Biden, House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) asked for a 90-day extension on his investigation. The last thing they uncovered was several different LLCs owned by several president's family members. It prompted analysts to question the significance, given Donald Trump's family has control over 500 of LLCs, all inter-linked, and in many different countries, CNBC reported in 2018.

At the same time, Republicans have been cagey on an interview that the FBI did in June 2020 with someone who had an accusation involving Biden. Neither the FBI nor the GOP will say anything about it, Washington Post columnist Philip Bump wrote Sunday. In fact, Republicans won't even tell Democrats what they know about it or how they learned the details about the investigation.

'He's a danger to our democracy': former national security official slams Oath Keepers founder

If Oath Keeper founder Stewart Rhodes was pardoned, he'd be out on the streets the next day threatening to take up arms against the government, a national security expert and former DOJ official said Thursday.

The conversation about domestic terrorism stemming from right-wing militias and fringe groups began Thursday as the Heritage Foundation, Fox and Rep. Jim Jordan complained about the Department of Homeland Security looking to them as the base from which some forms of extremism grow. It ended with two high-profile Oath Keepers being sentenced later that day, Elmer Stewart Rhodes (18 years) and Kelly Meggs (12 years).
