President Donald Trump posted an all-caps rebuke of North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO, on Truth Social, claiming the alliance "wasn't there when we needed them" and referencing Greenland as a "poorly run piece of ice."

The post came hours after Trump met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and just one day after announcing a U.S. and Iran ceasefire.

Trump had previously criticized NATO for refusing to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which handles 20% of global energy trade. Political analysts condemned the attack on social media.

Journalist Mark Jacob posted on Bluesky, warning, "the commander-in-chief of the world's deadliest killing force is out of his damn mind."

Jeopardy champion Hemant Mehta reminded Trump that NATO allies supported America after 9/11, on a brief post on X. Others, like Susan Carroll and Jessica Coggins, mocked Trump's Greenland reference and called for impeachment or 25th Amendment invocation.
