Former Republican strategist Ana Navarro and GOP pollster Sarah Longwell both urged Nikki Haley to stay in the 2024 presidential race, even as they both acknowledged that she has no shot at overtaking former President Donald Trump.
Appearing on CNN on Monday morning, Longwell made the case that Haley is performing a valuable service to the country by staying in the race.
"I definitely think she should stay in the race," Longwell argued. "And one of the reasons is that this is the first step to building what is going to be critical for defeating Donald Trump in the general election, which is building the anti-Trump coalition. The fact is, it's been good to see how many independents and Democrats are motivated enough against Donald Trump that they're turning out in these primaries to go vote against him. And I think once you've cast a vote against Donald Trump, it makes it much more likely that you're going to vote against him again."

Navarro expressed a similar sentiment and she hoped that Haley remaining in the race would damage Trump more in a general election.
"I think she should stay in because it irritates Donald Trump, because it unhinges him," she said. "And anything that does that is, for me, a positive."
All the same, Navarro admitted that there is no chance Haley actually wins the nomination.
"At the end of the day, Nikki Haley needs Republican voters to be able to win a Republican nomination," she said. "And those voters just aren't there. She can't win the Republican nomination with 50 percent of independents and she's losing republicans to Trump by 75 percent."
