'People behaving honorably are being keelhauled!' Ex-GOP lawmaker torches his party's warped priorities

Former Republican Congressman Charlie Dent on Wednesday slammed many members of his longtime party for defending Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) while threatening to oust Rep. John Katko (R-NY) over his decision to vote for the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

While appearing on CNN, Dent said that it was absurd to defend Gosar for posting an anime video depicting the murder of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) while at the same time pushing to oust Republicans who back the infrastructure deal.

"You saw several defending Paul Gosar's indefensible conduct, but who is defending John Katko right now?" he asked. "I wish they'd defend him as strongly as they're trying to strip him from a committee assignment for voting for an infrastructure bill."

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) this week led the charge to get Katko removed from the House Homeland Security Committee and even went so far as to question why anyone from New York should be on the committee despite the fact that it was formed directly because of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on New York City.

Dent continued by calling out the GOP for punishing good behavior while turning a blind eye to misconduct.

"What I find so troubling is that the people who are misbehaving aren't being held to account and the people who are behaving honorably, like John Katko, are being keelhauled!" he said.
