Proud Boy open to plea deal — and believes an associate has turned cooperating witness: report

On Thursday, POLITICO's Kyle Cheney reported that Dominic Pezzola, the member of the Proud Boys who smashed out a Capitol window during the January pro-Trump insurrection, is willing to make a plea bargain.

Pezzola, who was repeatedly mentioned during the evidence at the impeachment trial, reportedly also believes that one of his fellow Proud Boys has become a cooperating witness for prosecutors, according to Cheney.

Pezzola previously told a court that he was tricked by Trump's "deception" into being involved.

The Proud Boys, a far-right group known for their violent street brawls, had a heavy presence at the Capitol riot, along with paramilitary groups like the Oath Keepers.

Trump was acquitted for incitement of insurrection in connection with the riot, with seven Republican senators crossing over to declare him guilty.
