Rep. Matt Gaetz on Thursday refused to answer Raw Story's questions about how Rep. Jim Jordan could still become House speaker, instead thanking the reporter for being a viewer of Steve Bannon's War Room podcast.

Asked who Gaetz prefers after Steve Scalise dropped from the race to replace Kevin McCarthy, the lawmaker told reporters "Jim Jordan."

"Yeah," Gaetz said to one reporter who asked if he can "get there" and achieve the needed votes.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

The representative was then asked if there are five "never Jims" out there, and Gaetz said they will work on them.

"Isn't it set up so no one can win?" Raw Story asked. Gaetz then said the American people will win.

"What does that look like?" Raw Story prodded. "Who are the American people? Are they in your district?"

"I think there's a lot of enthusiasm around Jim Jordan," Gaetz said.

"Yeah, but is that what -- the War Room with Steve Bannon, or polling data?" Raw Story asked next.

Gaetz simply replied, "I'm so glad you're a viewer."
