House Republicans aim to hit Hunter Biden with a contempt of Congress charge after he refused to submit to their closed-door subpoenas last month, they announced Friday.
“Hunter Biden blatantly defied two lawful subpoenas when he did not appear for his December deposition,” the public announcement reads.
“Next week, we will consider a resolution and accompanying report to hold him in contempt of Congress for violating federal law.”
This move comes after President Joe Biden’s son defied orders from the House Oversight Committee to discuss financial corruption claims they have been unable to prove.

Instead, Biden stood outside the U.S. Capitol to deny the “baseless” corruption claims and challenge House Republicans to make their inquiry public.
“They have no shame,” Biden said at the time. “They have taken the light of my dad's love, the light of my dad's love for me, and presented it as darkness.”
The committee Republicans said Friday that they plan to draft a resolution at 10 a.m. Wednesday to charge him with contempt. It remains unknown when that resolution would go to a vote.
