'I wouldn't send that guy to 7/11 for a Slurpee': Morning Joe mocks Trump's 'ambassador envoy'
MSNBC

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough mocked former president Donald Trump for sending a bogus "ambassador envoy" to the Kosovo-Serbia border.

The twice-impeached one-term president issued a statement claiming Richard Grenell, his former ambassador to Germany, had acted in a diplomatic capacity this week to highlight an economic agreement his administration reached in 2020, and both the White House and the "Morning Joe" host ridiculed Trump for pretending to run a shadow presidency.

"Outside of his very active imagination, Donald Trump is no longer president and doesn't have any 'envoy ambassadors' representing the United States," a White House official told reporters.

Scarborough took a whack at the ex-president and his loyal ally.

"Former president Trump has been saying for months that he should be the actual president, as we know," Scarborough said, laughing. "Now he's taken his fantasy a step further. Mr. Trump sent former ambassador, of all people, Ric Grenell, to the Kosovo-Serbia border as what he's calling an envoy ambassador, a guy I would not send to 7/11 to get a Slurpee."

"Grenell landed in Kosova this week but, because Donald Trump is actually not the president, because Joe Biden got well over 300 electoral votes, Grenell is not there in any official capacity," he added.

Scarborough was baffled, saying he didn't understand what Trump was trying to accomplish by sending Grenell overseas, and MSNBC's Jonathan Lemire offered a withering explanation.

"This is Donald Trump pretending to be president again," Lemire said.
