Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) demanded cuts to Medicaid spending because he claimed recipients "sit on their butt at home."
While speaking to right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk on Monday, Scott rejected calls to raise tax rates on the wealthiest Americans.
"First off, I've never ever voted for a tax increase," the senator insisted. "We need lower taxes and we'll get more revenues."
"So no new tax increases, none," he continued. "Reduce spending. That's what we have to do."
Scott said he would pursue Medicaid cuts instead of increasing taxes on the rich.

"Take Medicaid. Medicaid should be a program for the poor and the chronically ill. That's what should be," he remarked. "Not to have people sit on their butt at home that don't want to work."
Scott acknowledged that Medicaid "might be nice to have, but that's somebody's money."
"I got to tax somebody to do that," he explained. "I'm not going to do that."
