Special counsel Robert Hur will most likely testify before Congress early next month about his report on President Joe Biden's handling of classified materials, and House Republicans hope to use that hearing to highlight his age.
House Republicans are salivating about the chance to ask the special counsel, whose report described Biden as "an elderly man with a poor memory," about the president's fitness for office in hopes of keeping the issue in the spotlight, reported Axios.
"Hur already is thinking about his testimony and has reached out to former Justice Department colleagues to potentially help him prepare," a source told the website. "Hur, a former U.S. attorney who was a Trump appointee, has been in discussions with Sarah Isgur — the head of public affairs and a senior counselor to Trump's deputy attorney general during the Mueller investigation — to help him navigate a congressional hearing."
Biden, White House officials and the president's personal lawyers have bashed Hur over his report, which cleared him of criminal wrongdoing but made what Biden lawyer Bob Bauer a "gratuitous" mention of the president's age and mental fitness – which has been a major concern for many voters.

House Republicans are planning a lengthy – possibly months long – probe to keep questions about Biden's mental state in the spotlight, with hearings and possibly even subpoenas for documents and recordings, and sources bluntly told Axios that GOP leaders don't think it even matters what they find.
Hur would likely testify before the House Judiciary Committee, and a person close to the president said the hearing would give his congressional allies a chance to push back against his characterizations.
"As Hur mounts his campaign, there will be another story to tell — of Hur and his deputy being two aggressive political prosecutors from the Trump administration who decided to gun for Biden in an election year for their own political futures as Republicans," that person said.
