Ron DeSantis made an unfortunate reference during a CNN interview that aired Tuesday, and social media pounced.
The Florida governor said in response to a question from CNN’s Jake Tapper about his electability that “the proof is in the pudding.”

DeSantis earlier this year made headlines after The Daily Beast reported that the Florida governor during a private flight ate pudding with his fingers.

The report provided fodder for late-night comics and prompted a Donald Trump campaign ad mocking DeSantis over his silverware-averse eating style.

“Pod Saves America” host and former Barack Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau tweeted: "When @jaketapper asked DeSantis about the state of his campaign, his answer actually included the phrase.... ‘The proof is in the pudding’” along with photos depicting a person eating pudding without silverware.

Political commenter and “Countdown” host Keith Olbermann tweeted: “His Effing fingers are in the Effing pudding - that's what's in the pudding.” Olbermann in a subsequent tweet called the Florida governor “Ron DePudding.”

“The proof is in the pudding” … which I ate with my g***amn fingers,” MSNBC columnist Michael A. Cohen tweeted.

“The only thing in the pudding is his fingers," tweeted Kelsie Taggart, the director of a media watchdog group.

Twitter user @Rschooley wrote: “He owns the pudding lane. Might as well drive it.”
