While dressing down Speaker Mike Johnson for paying fealty to former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, former White House spokesperson Anthony Scaramucci predicted his ex-boss is going to be outmatched on the evidence alone.
"What are you doing, standing next to that guy," Scaramucci figuratively asked about Johnson while appearing on CNN. "And what happened to the backbone of the Republican party? How did you let this guy hijack the entire party, the party of Lincoln and Reagan, and throw it in the toilet like this?
The Speaker stood alongside Trump to pitch a so-called election integrity bill and to retrieve the MAGA seal of approval as he beats back efforts by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R--GA) to clip his wings.
Scaramucci reminded Johnson that Trump is facing a 34-count indictment brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for falsifying business records to silence two alleged romantic relationships — Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal — before the 2016 election.

"You know, the guy's a criminal. You know he's about to be convicted in New York because Alvin Bragg would never be bringing this case ... You have to think about the guts to bring a case like this"
"It's the first case to be brought against a president, a former president, and, you know, he's got overwhelming evidence and you're standing next to the guy ruining the Republican party!"
Scaramucci was asked about his take on Trump's doomsday fundraising appeal on Friday.
“ON MONDAY ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE!” the email reads. “BIDEN AND HIS ALLIES WANT ME LOCKED AWAY IN PRISON! RABID DEMOCRATS ARE POISED TO RAISE MILLIONS WHILE I’M STUCK DEFENDING MYSELF IN COURT!”
"He's trying to foment anger," he said. "He's trying to claim that they're coming after him unfairly. He's trying to play the victim to people who, unfortunately, feel aggrieved by the system. Either they're not doing well... we have a lot of people in the country who were once economically aspirational ...they're now economically desperational"
He added: "They see Donald Trump as an avatar for their anger. He wants to tap into that. He wants to upset them."
