Trump’s new chief of staff hit with ominous warning just hours after promotion

President Donald Trump’s incoming White House chief of staff, Stephen Miller, is already facing the prospect of a congressional investigation following his surprise promotion Friday.

“Stephen Miller should lawyer up,” Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) warned in a statement reported by The New York Times.

Garcia, who is poised to chair the powerful House Oversight Committee when Democrats take control of Congress, said Oversight Democrats would “continue to investigate Miller for his misconduct.”

“Just days after the American people rejected his corrupt and lawless presidency, Donald Trump is doubling down,” Garcia said.

“Stephen Miller is the architect of the unconstitutional ICE raids that have terrorized our communities and kidnapped and killed American citizens and immigrant families,” he added.

The warning came shortly after Trump announced that Miller, the architect of his hardline immigration agenda, would replace Susie Wiles as chief of staff beginning Monday.

The dramatic shakeup follows devastating Republican losses in Tuesday’s midterms, which handed Democrats control of Congress and the power to launch investigations into the Trump administration.
