Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley dismissed the latest right-wing conspiracy theories about Taylor Swift as completely bonkers, when pressed by CNN's Jake Tapper on Thursday.
Many commentators and activists in the Trump universe have suddenly become terrified of pop star Taylor Swift and her new beau, NFL player Travis Kelce, amid speculation that she might get involved campaigning for Democrats in the 2024 presidential election as she did four years prior. Some have called the relationship a psyop to brainwash voters, and one host at the far-right One America News even suggested that organized sports in general are a plot to turn children away from Jesus.
"I want to turn to a rather odd subject, preoccupation with conspiracy theories about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, MAGA World seems obsessed with this week," Tapper told Haley, Trump's final remaining major opponent for the 2024 GOP nomination. "Vivek Ramaswamy tweeted, quote, 'I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month, and I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall?' Let's see how it ages over the next eight months. The Trump attorney, Alina Habba says this country needs a lot more women like Alina Habba and less like Taylor Swift."

"The Trump campaign commented on this and indulged this thing," he added. "What do you make of it?"
"I don't — I will not lie, I don't know what the obsession is," said Haley. "Taylor Swift is allowed to have a boyfriend, Taylor Swift is a good artist. I have taken my daughter to Taylor Swift concerts before. To have a conspiracy theory of all of this is bizarre. Nobody knows who she will endorse. I can't believe that has overtaken our national politics."
"Right now you have 60 percent of American families living paycheck to paycheck, we have a border out of control, wars happening around the world," she added. "The last thing we need to be worried about is who Taylor Swift is dating and what conspiracy theory has her endorsing a person for president."
