With co-host Mika Brzezinski detailing the human cost of the failure of Texas Republican lawmakers to deal with the killer cold that has gripped their state -- causing the loss of power and water services -- MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said they have allowed their state to become a "Third World country."
After "Morning Joe's" Mika reported on an 11-year-old child who reportedly died from hypothermia, and whose parents are suing the state's power grid operators over their failures, Scarborough jumped in with "What is wrong with Texas," posed more as an expression of exasperation than a question.
"These are headlines from third-world countries," he exclaimed. "What is wrong with Texas? Three and a half million people don't have drinking water right now in Texas? 11-year-olds freezing to death inside their own homes? What is wrong with Texas? -- what have the leaders of the state of Texas done or not done the past 20 years to allow Texans to suffer like this?"
Joining the conversation and reporting from Texas, NBC contributor Victoria DeFrancesco Soto interjected that officials in the state "Have blood on their hands."
