The Washington Post's opinion editor responded to new polling data from New Hampshire Republican voters, revealing the actual winner of the primary in the state was "the big lie" that Donald Trump won in 2020.

Speaking on MSNBC Wednesday, host Alicia Menendez explained that 64 percent of Iowa voters and 50 percent of New Hampshire voters didn't care whether Trump was convicted of a crime. The numbers aren't a shock in Iowa, after national polls showed closer to 66 percent of Republicans agreed with the statement. But it spells disaster for Trump in New Hampshire.

The Post's opinion editor, Alexi McCammond, said the other stat that disturbed her was the number of people willing to question the 2020 election.

"We had a column from my colleague Ramesh Ponnuru about how 'the big lie' is the real winner of the Republican primaries," said McCammond. "We have all known it was going to be Donald Trump as the nominee since before he even announced. 'The big lie' and all of its implications are back in full force, and they're winning in states like New Hampshire, where we're all aware of this independent streak that rewards someone like Nikki Haley and having half of the electorate say, we don't believe in Joe Biden."

Biden wasn't on the ballot in the Democratic Primary for the state, but still won as a write-in candidate with over 55 percent.

"The elected Republicans who didn’t want Trump to be the nominee have allowed his narrative about 2020 to go unchallenged for the past three years," wrote Ponnuru in The Post. "Or they have abetted it, letting sane complaints about voting procedures and media coverage cover for Trump’s fantasies about Venezuelan interference with voting machines and the like."

Ponnuru closed his piece by arguing that the anti-Trump majority is still continuing to grow and it's much larger than it was in 2016 and 2020.
