MS NOW host Mika Brzezinski derailed an interview with two Democratic lawmakers Friday with her reaction to acting Attorney General Todd Blanche blithe dismissal of concerns about ICE agents hanging around polling locations.
“What's the risk?” the lawyer asked.
The "Morning Joe" co-host immediately pounced on the Donald Trump appointee's remarks.
“To answer Todd Blanche's question directly, Mr. Attorney General, let's see what would be wrong with it,” she began. “Let's see… ICE agents elicit tremendous fear in Americans and people who are undocumented. By the way, all people, undocumented and citizens, have the same rights on U.S. soil. And yet ICE agents at polling stations would suppress the vote. And you know that — and you know that, Okay?”
“And remember, people know that they [ICE agents] have brutalized American citizens and undocumented people across this country,” she continued, her voice rising. “They have traumatized cities, they've created detention centers that are likened to concentration camps. They've kidnapped people; they've literally disappeared them, they can't be found, lawyers can't find them., okay?”
She exclaimed, “They bust through car windows! Even though people have rights to not have their cars broken open and dragged these people out onto the street — Injured people. They don't follow the law, they don't follow due process, they are frightening. They don't follow the law and they murder people on the streets of American cities and they get away with it, okay?”
“And they're dumb,” she bluntly added. “A lot of them don't follow any training, if the training exists. I don't know what the training is. The training maybe to celebrate tear-gassing children? Maybe that's the training, but they're not trained to not walk in front of a car, pointing a gun and holding a phone and shoot someone in the face.”
“ So yeah, I think actually putting these people at polling stations would have an impact that they want. Let's not dance around the issue here, okay? Let's not pretend we're talking about a ‘what if,’” she insisted.
