A Trump-supporting elementary school guidance counselor faces federal child pornography charges five years after being honored at the White House for his work with kids.
"Todd Christopher Roatsey, 42, came to the attention of Homeland Security Investigations agents in late August, when agents received a cybertip to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children," the Daily Beast reports. "A pseudonymous user on the Kik mobile messaging app had uploaded eight videos and one photo depicting 'prepubescent and pubescent minors engaged in sexual activity.'"
When federal agents raided Roatsey's home in West Virginia, he said he and his father rented out one of their rooms on Airbnb, suggesting a guest posted the pornographic material. However, agents found seven videos and 26 images containing child pornography on Roatsey's phone, as well as communications with "girls in the age range of late elementary school through middle school," according to a complaint.
Before his arrest on Wednesday, Roatsey was named West Virginia's Elementary School Counselor of the Year in 2015. In early 2016, he was honored by first lady Michelle Obama as West Virginia's national counselor representative.
"Although Roatsey was honored at the White House during a Democratic administration, a Twitter account under Roatsey's name suggests a strong preference for former President Donald Trump," the Daily Beast reports.
"Mr. President, declare a State of Emergency and Build the wall. #MAGA," Roatsey wrote on Twitter in January 2019.
