Conservative Matt Lewis is begging someone in President Joe Biden's campaign to take the gloves off and start thrashing former President Donald Trump.
Writing in The Daily Beast, Lewis expressed alarm at Trump's recent rants about immigrants "poisoning the blood" of America and he blasted the Biden White House for responding with a mere press release.
Lewis then pointed back to the hardball tactics used by James Carville, the strategist for former President Bill Clinton who lobbed sexist attacks against accuser Paula Jones to wreck her credibility.
"If Team Biden has anyone that vicious around, I haven’t seen him (or her)," writes Lewis. "The Biden campaign seems to be pinning its hopes on the notion that next year people will have a more favorable view of the economy, or (as was the case in 2022) that voters will prioritize saving liberal democracy over their own economic interests. A safer assumption would be that they have to destroy Trump completely and immediately."

Lewis went on to argue that Trump needed to be made to own his Hitler-parroting rhetoric as a millstone around his neck the same way Mitt Romney had to bear the burden of saying 47 percent of Americans were utterly dependent on government or that Hillary Clinton had to suffer political damage from describing roughly half of Trump voters as "deplorable."
"Imagine what a young Carville or Begala would do with that," he said, referring to Trump's "poison the blood" comments. "Aside from a relentless full-frontal assault every day on every show where every Republican is forced to condemn or embrace the thought, every single voter of color in America would be shown the line a million times."
The bottom line, concludes Lewis, is "the time to hesitate is through."
