Donald Trump on Wednesday evening hailed the new House Speaker, Mike Johnson, just minutes after calling the Maine shooting "a terrible situation."
The former president supported Johnson, who helped Trump attempt to overturn his infamous loss in 2020, and has been vocally against some of Johnson's own opponents in the race for speakership.
Trump momentarily broke from the Johnson comments and complaining about his New York fraud trial to comment on the active shooter situation in Maine.

"A terrible situation going on in Maine. At least 22 dead," Trump wrote on Wednesday. "It just seems to never end for the USA!"
Exactly four minutes later, Trump once again posted about Johnson in a celebratory fashion.
"Great speech today for new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. Off to a terrific start!!!" he wrote.
