Donald Trump launched an all-caps diatribe early Friday aimed at the Department of Justice for deciding not to charge President Joe Biden for having sensitive government documents stored in two unsecured locations.
On Thursday, CNN reported that special counsel Robert Hur will be issuing a full report on what his investigation found after a year-long probe — but is not expected to recommend criminal charges.
Hur was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland after lawyers for Biden self-reported the discovery of the documents, with the president immediately agreeing to fully cooperate with the DOJ, which likely played into Hur's decision.
Nonetheless, Trump raged at the DOJ as he faces federal criminal charges in Florida for storing documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
Taking to Truth Social, he wrote: "WOW! FAKE NEWS CNN, THROUGH A LEAK FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF INJUSTICE, HAS JUST REPORTED THAT NO CHARGES WILL BE FILED IN THE (MUCH BIGGER THAN MINE!!!) CROOKED JOE BIDEN DOCUMENTS CASE. WE ARE LIVING IN A VERY CORRUPT COUNTRY!"
Over on X, former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance patiently explained to the excitable ex-president that there is a world of difference between his case and Biden's, and he has only himself to blame for his Florida federal indictment.
"There is news that the special council (sic) investigating classified documents found in Joe Biden's office is unlikely to charge him, just like Mike Pence wasn't charged after documents were found in his office. What makes them different from Donald Trump?" she wrote.
Answering her own question while including a link from the Wall Street Journal, she added, "Trump was given every chance to return the documents after the National Archives realized they were missing. Biden & Pence both self-reported. The biggest problem for Trump is his lengthy history of trying to hold onto documents when asked, even subpoenaed, for them."
