MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow didn’t mince words Wednesday night as she offered viewers her insight into the current state of political affairs in America and sounded the alarm on the growing number of executive power grabs swirling around the new administration.
Maddow, during her show’s opening monologue Wednesday night, also flagged a key sign that the opposition to President Donald Trump and his billionaire ally Elon Musk are growing.
The analysis from the liberal commentator came as she highlighted nationwide protests to the administration’s actions, and spotlighted major media outlets that have started “raising a teeny tiny flag or two that everything they're doing appears to be quite illegal.”
Maddow began by referencing two reports from two leading publications warning that Trump and Musk’s actions are flouting U.S. laws. She grew particularly fired up about one in the Washington Post that quoted an expert saying, “so many of these things are so wildly illegal that I think they're playing a quantity game and assuming the system can't react to all this illegality at once.”

“That's not a private warning that there might be some illegality coming down the road,” Maddow said. “That's a red alarm. That is a red alarm screaming in the night. Everything they're doing is illegal.”
She added: “They're not even warnings, they're just descriptions of what's happening.”
Maddow then delivered a message for Senate Democrats who are being urged by others in their party to step up their opposition to Trump.
“Well, you know, one way to react to that is for the opposition to start shutting down everything they can to try to stop it,” she said. “That has been the message to elected Democrats from many of their constituents this week. Now, tonight, Chuck Schumer, the Democratic leader in the Senate, says that he does want all Democrats to now start doing everything they can to block all Trump nominees.”
