President Donald Trump endorsed a candidate for governor of Georgia on Monday who is currently fighting a lawsuit over how he is financing his campaign.
"As your next Governor, Burt Jones will fight hard to Grow the Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Champion American Energy DOMINANCE, Continue to Secure our now Secure Southern Border, Strengthen our Military/Veterans, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Advance Election Integrity, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
"Burt Jones for Governor has my Complete and Total Endorsement – HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!" the post continued.
Trump also said in the post that Georgia has a "special place" in his heart.
During the 2020 election, he called Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to find 11,780 votes for him. He also faced a criminal indictment in Fulton County, Georgia, for his attempt to overthrow the 2020 election.
Jones is running for governor at a time when Republican Gov. Brian Kemp is term-limited.
