After watching a supercut of members of Donald Trump’s Cabinet lavishing praise on the president during the three-hour-plus televised meeting on Tuesday, the entire panel on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” made no effort to hide their disgust and embarrassment for the administration officials.
In the clip, one after another official expressed their joy working for Trump, with hedge fund millionaire Scott Bessent, now the treasury secretary, gushing, “Economic security is national security and our country has never been so secure… Your Administration has made a meaningful dent in the budget deficit. The average budget deficit during this term is 26% less than the last twelve months under Biden.”
Not to be outdone, Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer chimed in with, “If you all haven’t stopped by the Department of Labor, Mr. President, I invite you to see your big, beautiful face on a banner in front of the Department of Labor, because you are really the transformational president of the American worker.”
Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, added, “Mr. President, working for this government, for you, is the greatest honor of my life. I tell it to everybody, and I really do feel that way, and I thank you because it’s a privilege to go out there and represent you in your humanitarian effort, in your goals of solving conflicts all over the world.”
After running the clip, the cameras caught MSNBC co-hosts Mike Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough with their faces in their hands.
Noting Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick proclaimed he was “having the time of his life,” Scarborough repeated the phrase and added, “... saying things that degrade me as a man.”
As Mika Brzezinski groaned, Scarborough turned to co-host Willie Geist and pointed out, “It continues, this is like part two.”
“You know, at what point does personal pride come in?” Geist remarked. “None of that –– a lot of the guys we just heard from there are these sort of self-described masters of the universe, many of them on Wall Street. The MAGA ethos of masculinity, right? Alpha male, all that; you just don't find more beta behavior.”
“Aren't they the ones that talk about beta males?” Scarborough observed.
