Reacting to Donald Trump’s recent spate of interviews, where he has been telling Americans that the economy is improving for them and prices have dropped, despite all evidence to the contrary, White House insiders are attempting to get him to sit down and re-craft his message that makes him look out of touch.

According to a new report from CNN, there is a feeling within Trump’s inner circle that “time is short” when it comes to stopping the bleeding over the economy with the 2026 midterms one year away.

With that in mind, efforts are also being made to compel the president to hit the road and get back in touch with his followers and lean into the issue of “affordability,” which he has been dismissing as of late.

CNN is reporting, “Trump’s advisers acknowledge that they have an affordability problem that the president has bristled at in public: Americans’ outlook on the economy is dour, and the administration’s efforts to ease their financial anxieties aren’t resonating.”

According to one insider, “You can’t convince people that their experience, what they’re feeling at home, isn’t reality.”

In an effort to get the president up to speed, an official admitted his scheduler has added what is being called "policy time” to Trump's schedule, with the idea that will lead to “accelerating the administration’s efforts to tackle inflation.”

CNN’s Alayna Treene added, “One of the strategies being discussed in the West Wing is for Trump to turn much of his attention to his domestic agenda. That includes ramping up his domestic travel, the officials said, and pulling back on his international trips. As the holidays draw near, there’s also a push to coordinate new messaging on what the administration is doing to help lower costs.”

The report notes that the electoral failures of Republicans in last week's contests have added urgency to the change in strategy.
