'Laughing cause I'm trying not to cry': Nicolle Wallace aghast at Trump's antics

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace created a split-screen on her show Monday afternoon, showing President Donald Trump telling families they must learn to live with less in his economy while accepting a $400 million plane as a gift from Qatar.

At the top of her second hour, Wallace coined it: "Donald Trump's war with the 30-doll family."

"You heard him. [It's] what's expected of us these days," she said about having fewer luxuries like toys for children. "That's what we can do for our country as red-blooded American families in this new Trump era of austerity — that we cut out the non-essentials. Things like 30 dolls and 250 pencils. Strollers. Tires. These are worthwhile sacrifices to make in Donald Trump's estimation, in his words, as the economy reorients itself. At least that's how the Trump version goes."

While the rest of America is learning to cut back on items we can no longer afford to buy, Wallace said, "Donald Trump's doing something very different. He's making himself much, much, much richer and more comfortable today."

She read the NBC News report confirming that Trump would accept a luxury Boeing 747 jumbo jet from the royal family of Qatar.

"It's a gift to be used by Trump as the new Air Force One for presidential travel until shortly before Trump leaves office, according to four sources familiar with the planning," Wallace read.

It will then be transferred to the Trump library.

Wallace chuckled at that detail.

"I'm laughing because I try not to cry anymore," she admitted.
