Trump allies see ex-president's Supreme Court win as sign he will soon be assassinated

A Donald Trump loyalist floated an interesting conspiracy theory on Friday following the Supreme Court's refusal to fast-track the former president's appeal over presidential immunity.

The Supreme Court rejected the bid for Special Counsel Jack Smith to skip over an appeals court and review whether or not Trump is immune from prosecution for his alleged efforts to subvert the 2020 election when President Joe Biden won. Trump celebrated the decision as a victory on Truth Social.

Laura Loomer, an independent journalist whose content is often shared by Trump, has previously criticized Democrats and Republicans who cross Trump. On Friday, she took news that Trump celebrated and found a way to turn it into something that's much darker.

"This is a major blow to Jack Smith and the Deep State who were hoping to try President Trump before the 2024 election by bypassing an appeal," Loomer wrote.

In a separate post, she added, "Jack Smith won’t be getting his March 4 trial date."

"The Deep State is going to try to kill Donald Trump," the former GOP candidate said Friday. "He must be protected at all costs."

The responses were mixed, with many offering prayers for Trump.

"Only the armor of God can protect President Trump. We must pray continuously for this," one follower of Loomer wrote.

Another one said, "Praying for our President Trump! I am worried about him and it breaks my heart this man is dealing with this evil against him. We love Trump in our family!"

"Please Laura, don't say that. We need to keep praying," another wrote.

In addition to people offering prayers, some people simply disagreed.

"God obviously has his back because they keep losing. He will continue to protect him," one user wrote in response.

Loomer's post was also picked up by another Trump ally: Mike Flynn, the former national security adviser who was pardoned by Donald Trump near the end of his presidency after pleading guilty to lying to FBI agents about his contacts with Russian officials.

"This is not a joke," Flynn wrote on Friday. "The 'deep state' aka a certain intelligence agency, better mind their p’s and q’s."
