A supercut from Donald Trump’s erratic speech from the White House on Wednesday night provoked gales of laughter from the hosts of “Morning Joe” on Thursday morning.
During his speech, where the president, as co-host Jonathan Lemire described it, “lost his battle with the teleprompter,” Trump constantly mentioned President Joe Biden’s name, which made up the focus of the supercut.
Following the video demonstrating Trump’s obsession with his predecessor, the MS NOW’s producers added musical accompaniment by country legend Willie Nelson singing, “You Were Always On My Mind.”
That led co-host Joe Scarborough to burst out laughing, before noting that the New York Times, well before the speech, detailed the president’s constant falling back on attacking Biden as his own political fortunes continue to collapse.
After controlling his laughter and saying, “Sing it, Willie," Scarborough continued, “That is so good. It's awesome. You know, so the New York Times, even before the speech last night, had written an article about how absolutely obsessed Donald Trump is with Joe Biden. And they wrote that they actually counted during the first 50 days, Donald Trump said Joe Biden's name an average of 6.32 times per day. I think about that every day.”
"And then when he had that Cabinet meeting last week where people said he was having a very hard time staying awake?" he added. “When he was there and conscious, the Times said that he blurted out Joe Biden's name eight times in 20 minutes.”
“And here we are,” he observed. “This is over 300 days into Donald Trump's second administration, and it's just it is a constant obsession. And now he's putting up third-grade plaques in the people's, you know, White House — might as well write it in crayons. I mean, but yeah, there's there is a crazy obsession with Joe Biden. Biden lives rent-free in his head.”
