With near-daily plane crashes, rising grocery bills, and massive infectious disease outbreaks erupting throughout the United States, CNN's John Berman on Tuesday questioned the wisdom of Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) proposing to make President Donald Trump's birthday a federal holiday.

While interviewing Republican strategist Joseph Pinion, Berman asked if crafting such proposals was really the best use of the congresswoman's time.

"Well, look, first of all, Congresswoman Tenney does a tremendous job down in D.C.," Pinion replied. "Not only has she proposed making President Trump's birthday a national holiday, she has also sent a criminal referral over to the Department of Justice... we're going to have 51 former members of U.S. intelligence held accountable. So look, respectfully, I don't think she's spending a great deal of time with it, but I think the press has spent a great deal of time talking about it."

Berman then asked Democratic strategist Maria Cardona for her opinion and she offered a much different take.

"I think it's a waste of time, frankly, John, but I do think that what it does, it gives Democrats the opportunity, and this is something that we need to be talking about every single day from here on out, is that the things that this president is doing and this administration are focused on, do absolutely nothing to bring down the price of groceries, gas, and rent."

Pinion countered by noting that no one really expected Trump to get the price of groceries down quickly — to which Cardona countered that Trump literally promised to get them down in a single day.
